Instagram singer Vanessa Rios has died at the age of 42 after fighting a rare and aggressive lung cancer. She passed away on Saturday night in a private hospital in Recife, Brazil. Her death has left fans in deep shock. Vanessa Rios had more than 680,000 Instagram followers and was loved for her strong stage voice and cheerful energy. She leaves behind her 16-year-old daughter, who shared a heartbreaking tribute online. The music world in Brazil is mourning the loss of a voice that touched thousands of people.

Vanessa Rios was born in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in the Greater Recife region of Brazil. She started singing in 2010 with a group called Encosta Neu. Her career grew fast. In 2012, she recorded her first big hit “Lençol Vermelho” with the band Boa Toda.


In 2014, she became the lead singer of the famous Brazilian band Kitara after winning a music contest. She later joined Forró do Muído and then Capim com Mel, where she stayed for five years.



The band Capim com Mel posted an emotional message online saying Vanessa was a true professional and that she left behind a strong musical legacy.

She was best known for singing Brazilian brega and forró music. Fans and fellow artists are flooding social media with emotional tributes and saying she always lit up the stage with her joy and spirit.

According to NeedToKnow, doctors first found a sarcoma in Vanessa Rios’ leg in 2019. She went through treatment and recovered. But in 2023, she was diagnosed again, this time with pulmonary synovial sarcoma , a rare and very aggressive lung cancer that mostly affects young people.

The cause of this cancer is still unknown. Even while battling the illness, Vanessa kept singing and performing for as long as her health allowed. Fans admired her courage.

In late September, she shared a final emotional message on Instagram about love and family. She wrote, “It’s not what we have in life, but who we have in our lives that matters.” Many fans are now commenting under that post, thanking her for her strength.

Her funeral will be held today in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, where her family and friends will say their final goodbye. Vanessa Rios’ death has left a deep sadness in the Brazilian music world. She is remembered not only for her voice, but for her heart.
