Maitreyi Ramakrishnan of Never Have I Ever fame has opened up about her thrilling new role in Roald Dahl's The Twits, which has never before been adapted for the screen.
The Netflix actress also emphasised the importance of 'new stories' rather than remakes, voicing her desire that the streaming platform will lead the way in commissioning projects that feel completely new.
In an exclusive chat, Ramakrishnan discussed how portraying Beesha in the forthcoming Netflix film sparked her interest in seeing some of Dahl's other overlooked works finally brought to life on screen.
The 23-year-old star also disclosed her favourite Dahl film adaptation of all time - and it's an absolute masterpiece of the animation world.
After Netflix's agreement with the Roald Dahl Story Company, Ramakrishnan was questioned about which of his tales should be adapted next that she would also fancy starring in, reports the Mirror.
"I don't know which one I would do," she pondered, "I've been spoiled now because we're the first adaptation of The Twits.
"So the question is, 'Do I do something that's already been done or go for another fresh one?'
"And then I'd have to read up on all these new fresh ones that haven't been touched..."
She then continued to reveal that she was drawn to suggest Fantastic Mr Fox, as the Wes Anderson masterpiece is her favourite Dahl film adaptation.

"But it's already such a great film," she concluded, before settling on: "I don't even want to touch it, leave it alone. Don't touch it, don't bother, leave her alone.
"Actually, just leave all of them alone," she said. "We don't need more adaptations. Bring original stories to the forefront.
"New - no more adaptations. We're not in reboot, rehash hell. Come on now, wrap it up. It's got to be an original. I'd have to do my research."

Later in the chat, Ramakrishnan once again expressed her adoration for Fantastic Mr Fox, declaring: "It's super cool to be in the first adaptation of one of [Roald Dahl's] books, which is such an honour in itself because there is so much pop culture influence that he has brought to the world.
"Fantastic Mr Fox is one of my favourite animated movies, so that's very exciting."
The animated picture The Twits represents a bold adaptation of Dahl's beloved short tale bearing the same title.
Within the production, Ramakrishnan voices courageous orphan Beesha, amongst the fresh characters introduced to the narrative alongside her closest companion Bubsy (Ryan Lopez).
At the same time, Hollywood icon Margo Martindale voices Mrs Twit whilst British comic Johnny Vegas brings her spouse Mr Twit to life.
The streaming giant's official description for the Phil Johnston-directed picture states: "The Twits tells the story of Mr. and Mrs. Twit, the meanest, smelliest, nastiest people on the face of the earth, and their epic battle against a family of magical Muggle-Wumps and two brave children who refuse to let the Twits' cruelty win."
The Twits is coming to Netflix on Friday, October 17.
