Britain is bracing for strong winds and a wall of rain to batter the country in mere days as winter draws closer. New weather maps from WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, has revealed the stormy conditions are due to sweep in across October 19 and 20. By 6pm on Sunday, the country will be drenched in a stretch of rain from Cape Wrath in Scotland to Portsmouth in the South of England.
Only a lucky few coastal areas will escape the downpours, such as Cornwall, Suffolk, and Kent. Elsewhere, residents can expect showers between 0.3mm/hr and 3mm/hr. The worst-affected areas are due to be Gloucestershire, Lancashire, and Devon. The following day, conditions will be exacerbated by strong winds sweeping in. In England, the west coast and Midlands are expected to bare the brunt of it, with gusts getting to 62km/hr (38mph) in certain areas.

At least 13 cities are expected to be impacted by the stormy conditions: Portsmouth, Southampton, Salisbury, Bath, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Salford, Lancaster, Preston, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, and Coventry.
Separately, the Met Office forecast for October 17 to 19 reads: "Staying cloudy for many Friday and Saturday but some drizzly showers likely at times, but some brighter spells too. Becoming changeable from Sunday with wind and rain arriving."
Its long range forecast from October 20 to 29 adds: "A rather unsettled pattern is likely through much of this period, as low pressure systems originating over the North Atlantic trundle east or northeastwards across the UK.

"These will bring showers or longer spells of rain, perhaps accompanied by some strong winds at times, but also interspersed with some drier and brighter interludes, albeit these generally of shorter duration than the recent settled spell.
"Later in the period, there may be a transition to a slightly cooler and more showery northwesterly regime, as high pressure builds over the Atlantic to the west, and low pressure becomes centred to the east of the UK.
"Temperatures are likely to be near or slightly above average overall, although may trend slightly below normal later."
