The Celebrity Traitors viewers have sworn they'll 'never forgive' comedian Alan Carr following his shocking first murder on the new series.
The cherished game of betrayal made its comeback to television screens on Wednesday (October 8), leaving audiences hanging on a bitter cliffhanger.
Following her selection of Traitors - Cat Burns, Jonathan Ross and Alan - host Claudia Winkleman immediately dispatched them on their first assassination mission.
Rather than selecting their initial target in secret, the trio faced the challenge of eliminating a Faithful "in plain sight".
They received instructions to touch a lethal flower hidden in the castle before touching another contestant's face, thereby sealing their fate, reports the Daily Record.
Alan was chosen to make the sacrifice as he would appear the most innocent among the Traitors. The comedian decided to eliminate vocalist Paloma Faith in Thursday's (October 9) instalment, though he confessed that murdering her "broke his heart".
Nevertheless, the participants were stunned to find everyone present at breakfast the next morning.
All contestants celebrated having escaped elimination, with Paloma sharing her feelings of being "happy and relieved". She declared: "I thought 'Thank goodness not to be the first one dead.'"
But Claudia later revealed that someone had actually been assassinated, before stating: "Whilst the murdered player sits amongst you all, by the end of today's mission, they will be dead."
The presenter then returned to the castle on horseback, guiding both the Faithfuls and Traitors back towards the graveyard, where the initial casualty would meet their final resting place.
The Traitors selected three Faithfuls to lie in coffins at the cemetery: Paloma, comedian Lucy Beaumont and content creator Niko Omilana. It was then revealed that Paloma was the first casualty.
Before the episode aired, a user on Twitter expressed their concern: "If one of them is murdered tonight I fear I will never forgive Alan Carr #CelebrityTraitors." Accompanying the tweet were photos of Paloma and Tameka Empson.
Now that the singer has been evicted from the castle, viewers are livid.
One viewer vented: "Alan Carr just robbed us of so many fantastic Paloma Faith outfits for the rest of the show #CelebrityTraitors #CelebrityTraitorsUK."
Another viewer added: "Noooo," while another wrote: "She was TV GOLD I'm absolutely gutted."
A further BBC fan commented: "Alan Carr really didn't need to murder Paloma Faith, I can't believe it."
And finally, a disappointed fan said: "Nah I'm gutted Alan chose Paloma, I hope they somehow remain part of the show even after being murdered, lil cameos or something."
The Celebrity Traitors continues on BBC One next Wednesday (October 15) at 9pm
