Candidates appearing for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examinations can now view their question papers, answers, and correct answers after the exam, as the commission has implemented several reforms to make its examinations more transparent and secure. Officials said on Friday that this move will allow candidates to challenge answer keys with evidence and retain copies for their personal use.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, these measures strike a balance between examination fairness and candidate welfare as the commission prepares for a busy examination cycle in the coming months. One key reform relates to the release of question papers. Officials said that this restriction on accessing question papers, the respective candidate's answers, and correct answers will only apply during multi-shift examinations to ensure that question papers from subsequent sessions are not compromised.
The SSC is one of the central government's largest recruitment agencies, primarily tasked with making selections for non-gazetted posts in various central ministries and departments. For the convenience of candidates, the Commission has also decided to publish selected previous question papers as official sample sets at regular intervals. This will provide authentic study material to candidates and ensure that the confidentiality of upcoming examinations is fully protected.
To make the process more candidate-friendly, the SSC has halved the fee for challenging questions. It will now be ₹50 per question instead of ₹100, reducing the financial burden on candidates who wish to object to an answer. The statement said that, in addition to the existing toll-free helpline 1800-309-3063, an online feedback and complaint portal has also been established, which will enable quick redressal of candidates' concerns.
Introduction of Equi-Percentile
The statement explained that one of the most important measures is the standardization of the Equi-Percentile system. This method compares candidates based on their percentage scores rather than their raw scores. This eliminates any advantages or disadvantages arising from variations in difficulty levels across different exam shifts. SSC question papers are now securely transmitted through a digital vault, reducing the possibility of their leakage. The Commission has also engaged specialized IT agencies to prevent hacking or other forms of malpractice.
